Scaffold Instructor Erith Grade E Salary - £ £36,428 to £40,714 depending on skills, experience and qualifications. Based on a 37.5-hour week with potential to progress to £43,655.

We are looking to recruit a Scaffolding Instructor Supervisor for our training delivery arm; The National Construction College which is situated in Erith. (London).

As a scaffold Instructor Supervisor you will Manage the Scaffold Training team supporting the College Manager, ensuring the team deliver innovative and engaging training. We are looking for someone with a good deal of experience in scaffolding and in particular the day-to-day management or supervision of scaffolders.

Your day-to-day activities will include planning, preparing and monitoring to ensure NCC continues to deliver outstanding training.

If you have gained experience (must have held a CISRS Card for 10 years and hold a CISRS Advanced Card for 5 years), with supervisory / Management experience and think you have the skills and ability to lead our access team in training the next generation and upskilling the existing workforce in the scaffolding sector then why not apply.

Key responsibilities and accountabilities Deliver training to a high standard to achieve course objectives, both practical and theory, keeping within the timings of the courses. Ensuring that course material, equipment, training aids including technology and documentation is available to meet the objectives of all courses. Updating and development of course material, including training aids, lesson plans and timetables in line with NCC’s customer’s requirements. Carryout Industry recognised training and assessments on trainees in accordance and compliance to scheme rules. Promote and maintain a safe learning environment, ensuring that whilst the delivery of programmes is conducted a high standard of health and safety, confidentiality, safeguarding and equality and diversity are maintained at all times. Complete and maintain all trainees' course reports, assessment forms, and other relevant documentation and fully utilise our eLearning platform, as required by awarding bodies and NCC quality procedures. Consistently demonstrate our CITB behaviours whist being a role model for students and challenge inappropriate behaviour in a professional manner in line with NCC’s policies and procedures. Complete all mandatory training as prescribed for your role and undertake any additional requirements for plant equipment categories needed to support training courses’. ‘Perform your work duties in accordance with the CITB behaviours and challenge inappropriate behaviour of learners not adhering to the college rules’. This role will be subject to ongoing observations under the Teaching and Learning process and Instructors will be required to adopt any areas for improvement identified during the Observation ensuring their teaching ability continuously improves.

As an experienced operative in your chosen field all required training in Health and Safety, Teaching and Occupational disciplines will be provided by NCC.

Recognised apprenticeship and or qualifications such as CPCS card or relevant (Blue) in multiple categories relevant for Plant in the construction sector, or a  CISRS card held for 10 years with an advanced CISRS card held for 5 years (we are willing to look at scaffolding candidates who have 10 years experience but do not hold an advance card as a development opportunity for the right candidates; the experience gained in these categories must be recent (within the last 5 years) and verifiable (others will be required as specified depends on Curriculum applied for). Strong written and oral communication skills (prepared to attend training and achieve Level 2 Numeracy and Literacy). Sound proven knowledge of current industry practices and experience/ability in construction skills relevant to position applied for in one off the following areas; Construction, Access, Health and Safety or Plant. Must be prepared to work towards and achieve relevant teaching qualification to at least level 3 (achieved within an agreed timescale) and progress to level 4 within the relevant time frame. Prepared to work toward and achieve relevant qualifications that support the vocational area of the curriculum (achieved within an agreed timescale) Hold a relevant Health and Safety qualification (SMSTS /IOSH training will be given). Attend  `disarm from within` course within 12 months An understanding of and commitment to Safeguarding and equality and diversity (training will be given). First Aid at Work Certificate (complete within 6 months). Health and Safety qualifications / training relevant to the specific role, training will be provided within 6 months.

Desirable Possession of Assessor units would be advantageous (training will be provided). Hold relevant teaching qualifications ie CTLLS Level 4 – Certificate in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector, or equivalent qualification. (training will be provided) Possess a recognised Health and Safety qualification ie SMSTS, NEBOSH Construction etc (training will be provided). Possess an accredited Trainer card/Tester Card for relevant specialism (training will be provided). Relevant construction Level 3 qualification or equivalent. Proven ability to motivate, enthuse and develop positive attitudes in young people and support them to overcome barriers to learning and progression. Well organised and efficient with the ability to manage own workload. Be prepared to undertake work placements within the Industry to develop Industry experience and CPD. Possess CPCS tester (Plant) and or NVQ/Assessor status (training will be provided).

Special Conditions/Other Requirements: Full UK driving licence Periodic travel required throughout UK Must be prepared to travel and work at other CITB locations with occasional overnight stays.
