Scaffolding will be erected in the grand courthouse of the Jasper County Courthouse sometime in the near future to repair damaged paint and stenciling.

The board of supervisors on June 14 approved a little more than $5,000 bid to All-American Scaffold to provide and install the equipment. Jasper County Maintenance Director Adam Sparks said scaffolding will be installed behind the judge’s chair, as well as rolling tower scaffolding with guardrails.

Contractors will begin installing the scaffolding on June 17.

Much like the scaffolding currently in use to restore the mural and painting, the equipment for the grand courtroom will rented. It is a 28-day rental. The scaffolding rentals for the interior courthouse mural and painting cost Jasper County more than $63,000 and will be up for two months.

Scaffolding for the mural restoration project is currently set up the courthouse. The more than $232,000 project is being completed by the Chicago-based EverGreene Architectural Arts.
